FAQs

Application

How does the process work?

Step 1:
Continuing students who are enrolled at the University or have completed the admission application can apply for housing at 2400 Nueces when the application opens on Aug. 1. First-time freshmen are eligible to live at 2400 Nueces for their second year and can apply after the 12th class day of their first term.

Explore your room and contract options. 2400 Nueces’s apartment types can be toured virtually on our 2400 Nueces location page. New applicants can apply for a 9-month or 12-month contract at 2400 Nueces. Residents with 9-month contracts must fully vacate their room at the end of the spring term in May. Residents with 12-month contracts will fully vacate at the end of the summer.

Step 2:
Visit the housing portal to start your housing application where you can select 2400 Nueces on the location preferences page and indicate your preferred contract length (9-month or 12-month) and room type. You will also complete your roommate profile questions.

Step 3:
Submit the housing application, which will secure you in our applicant pool. There is a $100 non-refundable application fee. Contracts are typically sent out starting in November, in application date order. The sooner you apply for housing, the better your chance of getting a contract.

Step 4:
Receive your housing contract offer. Contracts are emailed on the 1st and 15th of the month, starting in November. Check for this email regularly, and once received, please note the contract offer expiration date listed in the email.
Participate in the room self-selection process before you sign your contract. If you want to live in an available space with a particular roommate or roommates, applying around the same time increases the likelihood of selecting an apartment with available rooms together.

Students who accept a 12-month contract will fully vacate their room at the end of the summer. Students who accept a 9-month contract will not have an option to extend their current contract period and must fully vacate their room in May.

Step 5:
A $500 prepayment ($200 advance payment and $300 deposit) must be submitted through the housing portal prior to signing your contract. The $500 prepayment is a financial commitment for your reservation and will be applied to your first month’s rent or any cancellation fees. If you are younger than 18, you will need a guarantor who is 18 or older to sign your housing contract.

How can I request accessible accommodations?

If you have a medical or disability-related need that impacts where you will live, please indicate the type of accommodation you will require in the space provided on your housing application. You will need to submit a request and documentation to Disability and Access (D&A). They will review the documentation you provide and forward our office the recommendations regarding your housing accommodations. All disability information will be kept confidential within D&A. Your request will not be processed unless you submit the documentation to D&A. Learn more about the complete accommodation request process through D&A.

How much does it cost?

Prices vary based on what room type you have and your contract length. Monthly installments are not prorated for move in dates. See our 2400 Nueces rates page for comprehensive rates, billing and payment information.

Room Selection

How can I select my preferred room/apartment?

Applicants for both contract lengths will submit their room type preferences as part of the application process. After receiving a contract offer, students will self-select their room from our available spaces then satisfy the $500 prepayment and sign their contract.

Can I select a roommate during the contract offer process?

When you fill out your application, you will be prompted to answer roommate profile questions prior to submission. When you are offered a contract and select an available space, you will be able to see the profile information of students already in the room or apartment to help with your selection. If you want to live in an available space with a particular roommate or roommates, applying around the same time increases the likelihood of selecting an apartment with available rooms together. Please be aware that we cannot guarantee pairing with your preferred roommate(s) due to limits of available space.

Can I get a single space?

2400 Nueces features very few single spaces. If you request a single space as your only room type preference in your housing application and we are unable to accommodate your request, you will not be offered a contract until a space is available.

Do we offer gender-inclusive housing at 2400 Nueces?

The room selection process is administered with rooms labeled by gender and provides available bed spaces based on your gender marker with the University. If you have questions or concerns regarding living options based on your gender marker not matching your gender identity, please contact our housing team so we can work with you on an individual basis.

Please note that as part of the housing application process, there is an opportunity to opt into the Family and Friend Expanded Roommate Option. This option is only available in the on-campus residence halls.

What if I don’t identify as the gender indicated on my UT record?

As a first-time admitted student who is not yet enrolled, you can change your gender marker by submitting a signed request to the Office of Admissions with your EID, date of birth, full name and phone number indicating the gender marker change. The gender choices for this process are F and M. Questions regarding this process can be directed to the Office of Admissions located in Walter Webb Hall by email or calling 512-475-7399.

Payments

How does the payment process work for 2400 Nueces?

12-month contract payments are split into 12 equal monthly installments from August to July. 9-month contract payments are split into 9 equal monthly installments from August to April. For both contract types, the August and September installments must be paid by Sept. 5 or a $50 late fee will be added to your account. The August installment is not prorated based on your move in date. All other installments are due on the 1st of the month and a $50 late fee will be added to your account each time an installment is not paid by the 5th of the month in which it is due.

When is the first housing bill due? How can I make a payment?

The first and second housing installments are due in the first week of September. For the exact date, please review your billing details. Payments can be made on What I Owe. For more information about payment plan types, payment options and installments, please see our 2400 Nueces rates.

What is eProxy?

An eProxy is someone who has obtained a UT EID and has been granted the authority to access another person's electronic records through the web services offered here at UT. An eProxy is authorized by service (so you may be authorized for one service but not another), and each authorization is valid for up to one year as specified by the granter. Learn more about the eProxy system.

Is my $500 prepayment deducted from my installment amount?

The $500 prepayment ($200 advance payment and $300 deposit) is a financial commitment for your reservation and will be applied to your first month’s rent or any cancellation fees. The balance owed will be listed on your first statement.
