How to Live at 2400 Nueces Again

Current residents of 2400 Nueces may begin applying for housing when the application opens on Aug. 1. You will need to provide a $50 non-refundable application fee to complete the application. Once you are offered a contract via email, you will need to provide a $300 advance payment before you renew your contract. The $300 prepayment is a financial commitment for your reservation and will be applied to your first month’s rent or any cancellation fees. Beginning in mid-October, contracts for students currently living with us will be offered based on application date order and availability.

Students with a current 12-month contract will be able to renew their current room assignment for the same length of time. If students are current 9-month contract holders or switching to a 9-month contract, they will be assigned a room by our housing team. Room transfer requests are not guaranteed due to limited availability.

FAQs

How do I complete my application?

Access the online application in the housing portal. There is a non-refundable $50 application fee. For online payments, we accept Discover, MasterCard, Visa, eChecks or an Electronic Funds Transfer. To pay by cash or check in person at the Cashier’s Office, you must first email our housing team. You must pay the application fee and click the submit button to complete the application process.

What is the deadline to apply for housing as a returning student?

Current residents of 2400 Nueces may begin applying for housing when the application opens on Aug. 1. Beginning in mid-October, contracts for students currently living with us will be offered based on application date order and availability.

Current residents who apply after the contract offer process begins will be in line for a possible offer with new applicants. They are not guaranteed their same room and direct transfers are not available.

How does the renewal process work for a 12-month contract?

Students with a current 12-month contract will be able to renew their current room assignment for the same length of time. Room transfer requests are not guaranteed due to limited availability. 12-month contract holders who renew for another 12 months do not have to fully vacate their room until the end of the summer when their renewal contract ends.

How does the renewal process work for a 9-month contract?

If students are renewing or switching to a 9-month contract, they will be assigned a room by our housing team based on their room type preferences. These assignments are made in application date order – the sooner you apply, the higher your chance of being assigned to your preferred room type. We will make every effort to assign you to your preferred room type but cannot guarantee it given limits of available space. 9-month contract holders must fully vacate their room in May and will move back into 2400 Nueces in August.

What if I want to renew but don’t want my same room?

Current residents that apply to renew housing at 2400 Nueces are applying for their same room. We offer a limited number of transfers at 2400 Nueces in application date order, so apply early. Please note that if you are a current resident and apply to live at 2400 Nueces the next year, you may not receive a transfer offer.

I’m eligible to be released from my contract this spring but want to return to 2400 Nueces next fall. Should I apply?

Yes. You should apply by the priority renewal deadline even if you are eligible to be released from your current housing contract due to a study abroad opportunity, an academic internshipor another reason listed on the Contract Release Request form.

What if I would like a single space?

If you currently have a single, a single contract will be offered. New single requests can be considered when you indicate your request with your contract housing choices online. Singles are offered based on availability and original date of application.

What if I have a poor payment history or a poor disciplinary status with University Housing and Dining?

If you have a housing bar or a past due balance, you will not be eligible to receive a contract. If you receive a contract and have a poor payment history or a poor disciplinary status, your contract will be canceled at our sole discretion.

Is gender-inclusive housing offered?

The room selection process is administered with rooms labeled by gender and provides available bed spaces based on your gender marker with the university. If you have questions or concerns regarding living options based on your gender marker not matching your gender identity, please contact our housing team so that we can work with you on an individual basis.

What if I don’t identify as the gender indicated on my UT record?

As an enrolled student, you can change your gender marker by submitting a signed letter to the Registrar requesting the gender marker change. Include your EID, date of birth, full name and phone number in the request. The gender choices for this process are F and M. Questions regarding this process can be directed to the office of Student Academic Records located in the Main Tower (MAI 16) by email or calling 512-475-7644.

Does the housing contract include parking?

Parking is not included in the housing contract. Parking and Transportation Services manages student parking. If you have questions about parking, email Parking and Transportation Services or call them at 512-471-PARK.
