How to Live at 2400 Nueces Again

Current residents of 2400 Nueces may begin applying for housing when the application opens in October. You will need to provide a $100 non-refundable application fee and $200 advance payment to complete the application. The $200 advance payment is a financial commitment for your reservation and will be applied to your first month’s rent or any cancellation fees. The priority deadline to complete your renewal application, pay the $100 application fee and $200 advance payment, and sign your renewal contract is Oct. 31.

Students with a current 9- and 12-month contract will be able to renew their current room assignment for the same length of time. Room transfer requests are not guaranteed due to limited availability.

How do I complete my application?

Access the application in the housing portal during the renewal period. There is a non-refundable $100 application fee and $200 advance payment. For online payments, we accept Discover, MasterCard, Visa, eChecks or an Electronic Funds Transfer. To pay by cash or check in person at the Cashier’s Office, you must first email our housing team. You must pay the application fee and advance payment and click the submit button to complete the application process.

What is the deadline to apply for housing as a returning student?

Current residents of 2400 Nueces may begin applying for housing when the application opens in October. The priority deadline to complete the renewal application, pay the $100 application fee and $200 advance payment, and sign your renewal contract is Oct. 31.

Current residents who apply after the contract offer process begins will be in the applicant pool for a possible offer with new applicants.

How does the renewal process work?

Students with a current contract will be able to renew their same room assignment and length of contract time. Room transfer requests are not guaranteed due to limited availability. 12-month contract holders who renew for another 12 months do not have to fully vacate their room when their renewal contract ends. 9-month contract holders must fully vacate their room in May and will move back into 2400 Nueces in August.

What if I want to renew but don’t want my same room?

Current residents who apply to renew housing at 2400 Nueces are applying for their same room. We offer a limited number of transfers at 2400 Nueces in application date order, so apply early. However, you may not receive a transfer offer.

I’m eligible to be released from my contract this spring but want to return to 2400 Nueces next fall. Should I apply?

Yes. You should apply by the priority renewal deadline even if you are eligible to be released from your current housing contract due to a study abroad opportunity, an academic internship or another reason listed on the Contract Release Request form.

What if I would like a single space?

If you are renewing in 2400 Nueces, you are renewing your current space, including if your current space is a single room. If you request to transfer to a single space, we may reach out at a later date to offer a space as they become available. You will be responsible for the $300 transfer fee if you are offered a room.

What if I have a poor payment history or a poor disciplinary status with University Housing and Dining?

If you have a financial hold totaling more than $500 or a past due balance, you will not be eligible to receive a contract. Additionally, you must clear any financial holds prior to accessing and submitting the renewal application. Having a financial hold will not extend the deadline to submit, and the removal of a hold after Oct. 31 will not reopen the application. If you receive a contract and have a poor payment history or a poor disciplinary status, your contract will be canceled at our sole discretion.

Does the housing contract include parking?

Parking is not included in the housing contract. Parking and Transportation Services manages student parking. If you have questions about parking, email Parking and Transportation Services or call them at 512-471-PARK.
