Parking is a common stressor during Mooov-In, but it doesn’t have to be. Whether you have an early, centralized, or extended check-in timeslot, this comprehensive guide has you covered so parking will be easy to navigate on your big moving day.

Early, Overnight and Extended Check-In

Stop #1: The garage closest to your residence hall
If you are checking in early, overnight or during the extended period, first park in the garage nearest your residence hall before moving belongings into your room.

  1. Pull a ticket at the garage entrance.
  2. Enter the garage and find a spot.
  3. Check in at your residence hall’s designated front desk, where you’ll receive a parking pass – valid for a single vehicle – that you’ll use to exit the garage for free.
  4. Unload belongings from your vehicle, making as many trips as needed.
  5. When you’re finished moving in, scan the parking pass you received at check-in to exit the garage.

Centralized Check-In

Stop #1: UFCU Disch-Falk Field
At your scheduled check-in time, you’ll first drive to the East Campus Garage (ECG), located just off the I-35 frontage road. Parking in this garage will be free and give you easy access to UFCU Disch-Falk Field.  You may only bring one vehicle to check in at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. Any additional vehicles should go directly to park on campus while you pick up your key and wait for you to join them to move into your hall.
Stop #2: The garage closest to your residence hall
Once you have checked in at Disch-Falk Field, park in the University-owned garage nearest to your residence hall before moving your belongings into your room. Parking in University-owned garages is free during centralized check-in. You can enter and exit the garage as needed.

2400 Nueces Check-In

If you’re moving into 2400 Nueces, you’ll park at San Antonio Garage, which is located directly across from the apartment complex. Students checking in Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 16 and 17 will be given a QR code at check-in for two hours of parking validation that can be used upon exiting the garage. Students checking in after Sunday, Aug. 17 will not be provided with a parking pass and will have to pay when exiting.

Parking Tips for All Check-In Types

  • Even if you find other parking options available near your hall, we recommend parking in the closest University-owned garage as this is likely the only free parking option available. Parking in the garages will also help limit congestion during busy Mooov-In periods.
  • If you choose to park in spots outside the garage nearest your hall, be sure to check the parking signs carefully to avoid ticketing or towing. This includes fire lanes, disabled parking spaces, along yellow curbs or any space designated as “Permit Required At All Times.”
  • Look out for parking meters and city signs to ensure you are not in a metered space (usually marked “Pay-To- Park”).
  • Be conscious of your vehicle’s size. Cars with trailers are not recommended as they may have difficulty finding suitable parking and will not fit in parking decks.
  • If your vehicle is ticketed for whatever reason, University Housing and Dining has no jurisdiction over the matter. Please do not reach out to University Housing and Dining staff regarding parking tickets or citations. Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) recommends following the appeal instructions listed on the citation.
