This page will guide you through the Mooov-In process for fall 2021. We want all residents to have a smooth Mooov-In experience and we are excited to welcome you to living on campus. Before you Arrive
Requirements for Mooov-In
  • Per university guidelines, masks are optional inside university buildings and outdoors. For individuals who are not fully vaccinated or have weakened immune systems, masking and social distancing are optional but recommended.

  • It is important to arrive at your scheduled appointment time to help limit the amount of traffic on campus and provide you with a smooth experience. Reserve your time slot by emailing housing@austin.utexas.edu with your name, UT EID, day you want to arrive and time you are hoping to check in. The housing team will try to accommodate your preferred day and time.

  • Please bring only the guests you need to help you move to keep the residence halls from being too crowded.

  • Try to pack only essential belongings.

  • Be sure to check out the links in the margins for what to bring, things you should know before you get to campus and other helpful information. Don’t forget to follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Check-In Details

Early Check-In at respective Residence Hall Desk
August 16 at 3 p.m. through August 20 at 5 a.m.
  • Early check-in is reserved for those students who need to return to campus prior to the centralized check-in event typically due to a university affiliation. Checking in early costs an additional daily fee that will be billed to the student’s account after checking in.
  • Note: Between 5 – 7 a.m. on August 20 there is no check-in available as we relocate room keys in preparation for centralized check-in.
  • Schedule your early check-in time by emailing housing@austin.utexas.edu with your name, UT EID, day you want to arrive and time you are hoping to check in. The housing team will try to accommodate your preferred day and time. The earliest residents can check in for the fall semester is 3 p.m. (CT) on Monday, August 16. Do not try to move in prior to this time; staff will not be able to assist you.
  • There is a $50 per day fee for checking in early charged to your ‘What I Owe’ page as part of your housing bill. Nothing is due until the first payment of the housing bill on Sept. 10.
  • Where do I go? Go to the designated front desk for your residence hall at the time/day that you have chosen for early arrival.

  • What to expect when checking in
    • Bring your photo ID to the check-in location.
    • You will receive your room key and bathroom code, if applicable.
    • After you accept your key, you cannot be released from your contract. The 2021-2022 housing contract ends May 18, 2022. Refer to the Housing Terms and Conditions for further information.
    • For information on what to pack, visit our What To Bring page.  
  • Unloading and parking
    • 1-hour unloading pass will be available when you check in at your designated front desk.
    • Designated unloading zones are available around each residence hall. Once you finish unloading your things or if your unloading pass expires, you can park your car in a nearby garage.
  • Elevators in the halls
    • Elevators are only accessible in Jester, San Jacinto, Kinsolving and Duren, so pack accordingly to carry items upstairs in the other halls.
    • If you are able, bring your own dollies or rolling carts; the residence halls with elevators have a limited number available.
  • After hour courtesy. Checking in is allowed 24-hours a day. Out of courtesy for other residents already in the building, we ask that from 10 p.m. - 7 a.m. you move only what is necessary to your room in order to reduce noise during sleeping hours.
  • How will I get my UT ID? 
    • Please submit your photo using the ID Center online photo submission process by Aug. 6.
    • You must visit the ID Center at the Flawn Academic Center to pick up your UT ID card.
    • We will issue you a temporary card if your ID isn’t ready when you pick up your key.
    • You will need to present a current government-issued photo ID to pick up your UT ID card. 
    • If you are a minor (under 18), you will need to bring your parent or guardian, who will also need to present a current government-issued photo ID.
    • If you have questions about your UT ID card, please contact the ITS help desk at 512-475-9400 or help@utexas.edu.
Centralized Check-In at UFCU Disch-Falk Field
August 20 - 22, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.
  • Centralized check-in kicks off the Longhorn Welcome Signature Events and is when most students move into the residence halls.
  • Between 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. students pick up their room keys at UFCU Disch-Falk Field before moving their belongings into their respective residence halls.
  • Parking is free at East Campus Garage, 1200 E Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Austin TX 78702, off of the I-35 Frontage Road.
  • Note: Between 5 – 7 a.m. and 8 – 9 p.m. there is no check-in available as we relocate room keys.
  • Schedule your early check-in time by emailing housing@austin.utexas.edu with your name, UT EID, day you want to arrive and time you are hoping to check in. The housing team will try to accommodate your preferred day and time.
  • Where is centralized check-in? UFCU Disch-Falk Field located at 1300 E Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Austin TX 78702. Use the Centralized check-in Residence Hall Route Map below or click DFF on this map to locate UFCU Disch-Falk Field.

  • Why am I going to UFCU Disch-Falk Field? The majority of students check-in during Centralized check-in, so we host a key pick up at UFCU Disch-Falk Field to accommodate everyone faster. We estimate your wait time will be 15 – 20 minutes to get your keys once you are in line at UFCU Disch-Falk Field. All residents must pick up their keys from UFCU Disch-Falk Field prior to unloading at their residence hall.
  • Please arrive during your allotted time. If a traffic jam or unexpected delay causes you to be a few minutes late, don’t worry. Relax and drive safely. You do not need to notify University Housing and Dining (UHD) that you are running a few minutes late. However, if you are running hours (or a day) late, email UT Housing.
  • Staff will be wearing official Mooov-In t-shirts. They will be able to help you with any questions.
  • What to expect when checking in
    • Bring your photo ID to the check-in location.
    • You will receive your room key and bathroom code, if applicable.
    • After you accept your key, you cannot be released from your contract. The 2021-2022 housing contract ends May 18, 2022. Refer to the Housing Terms and Conditions for further information.

  • Unloading and parking
    • During check-in at UFCU Disch-Falk Field you will receive a 1-hour unloading pass. Only one pass will be issued per resident.
    • Parking is limited, so please bring only needed vehicles to campus during this time. Cars with trailers may be difficult to find parking for in unloading zone spaces and will not fit in the decks, and therefore are not recommended.
    • Designated unloading zones are available around each residence hall. Once you finish unloading your things or if your unloading pass expires, you can park your car in a nearby garage. Vehicles that remain past their sixty-minute period will be ticketed.
  • Elevators in the halls
    • Elevators are only accessible in Jester, San Jacinto, Kinsolving and Duren, so pack accordingly to carry items upstairs in the other halls.
    • If you are able, bring your own dollies or rolling carts; the residence halls with elevators have a limited number available.
  • How will I get my UT ID? 
    • Please submit your photo using the ID Center online photo submission process by Aug. 6.
    • If your photo is submitted by Aug. 6 and approved, your UT ID card will be available for pick up when you arrive during centralized check-in Aug. 20 – 22, 7 a.m. – 8 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field.
    • If your photo is submitted after Aug. 6, it may not be available when you check-in and you should expect a delay in receiving your UT ID card.
    • We will issue you a temporary card if your ID isn’t ready when you pick up your key.
    • You will need to present a current government-issued photo ID to pick up your UT ID card. 
    • If you are a minor (under 18), you will need to bring your parent or guardian, who will also need to present a current government-issued photo ID.
    • If you do not submit a photo online, you must visit the ID Center at the Flawn Academic Center to pick up your UT ID card.
    • If you have questions about your UT ID card, please contact the ITS help desk at 512-475-9400 or help@utexas.edu.
Overnight Weekend Check-In at respective Residence Hall Desk
August 20 - 22, 10 p.m. - 5 a.m.
  • Overnight during centralized check-in students can pick up their room keys at the front desks of their residence hall.
  • Note: Between 5 – 7 a.m. and 8 – 9 p.m. there is no check-in available as we relocate room keys.
  • Schedule your overnight check-in time by emailing housing@austin.utexas.edu with your name, UT EID, day you want to arrive and time you are hoping to check in. The housing team will try to accommodate your preferred day and time.
  • Where do I go? Go to the designated front desk for your residence hall at the time/day that you have chosen for arrival.

Extended Check-In at respective Residence Hall Desk
After 9 p.m. on August 22
  • After centralized check-in, students can pick up their room keys at the front desks of their residence hall 24/7.
  • Schedule your check-in time by emailing housing@austin.utexas.edu with your name, UT EID, day you want to arrive and time you are hoping to check in. The housing team will try to accommodate your preferred day and time.
  • If you need to move in after Aug. 24 you MUST notify University Housing and Dining (UHD) in advance to avoid having your contract canceled. You can do this online. You are required to check in by 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 24.
  • Where do I go? Go to the designated front desk for your residence hall at the time/day that you have chosen for arrival.

2400 Nueces Check-In
August 14 - 24


When to check in:

  • Check-in will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 14 with check-in time slots available through Tuesday, Aug. 24 at 4 p.m. Please note that your August installment is not adjusted based on your check-in date.
    • If you need to move in after Aug. 25 you MUST notify University Housing and Dining (UHD) in advance to avoid having your contract canceled. You can do this in the housing portal.
  • Sign up for a move in day and time in your housing portal. Please log in and select your check-in appointment from the available dates and times.
  • Please arrive during your allotted time. If a traffic jam or unexpected delay causes you to be a few minutes late, don’t worry. Relax and drive safely. You do not need to notify University Housing and Dining (UHD) that you are running a few minutes late. However, if you are running hours (or a day) late, try to update the check-in scheduler online or email UT Housing.

Where to check in:

  • Your check-in location will depend on the date and time of your scheduled arrival. Please see details below:
    • Saturday, Aug. 14, 9 a.m. - 7 p.m. = San Antonio Garage
    • Sunday, Aug. 15, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. = San Antonio Garage
    • Monday, Aug. 16, 9 a.m. – noon = San Antonio Garage
    • All other dates and times = 2400 Nueces front desk

What to bring:

  • Have your photo ID ready and know your UT EID.
    • If you do not yet have a UT ID and you submitted your approved ID card photo online, you will be able to pick up your UT ID card when you check in. If your ID isn’t ready, we will issue you a temporary card.
  • Please bring only the guests you need to help you move to keep the building from being too crowded.
  • Try to pack only essential belongings.
  • If you are able, bring your own dollies or rolling carts; there will be a limited number of carts available to check out.

What to expect when checking in:

  • For check-ins occurring at San Antonio Garage:
    • San Antonio Garage is located at 2420 San Antonio Street. Enter San Antonio Garage going north bound on San Antonio Street from 24th Street as it is a one-way street.
    • Students will be provided with parking validation for the San Antonio Garage for two hours. You can pull a ticket upon entering the San Antonio Garage and you will be provided a QR code at check-in that you can use upon your exit.
    • Check-in tables will be located on the first floor on the west side of the garage closest to 2400 Nueces.
    • Guests are asked to stay in the vehicle while the student picks up their room key and apartment fob to limit the number of people waiting in line.
  • For check-ins occurring at 2400 Nueces front desk:
    • Students will be provided with parking validation for the San Antonio Garage for two hours. You can pull a ticket upon entering the San Antonio Garage and you will be provided a QR code at check-in that you can use upon your exit.
    • Guests are asked to stay in lobby area while the student picks up their room key and apartment fob to limit the number of people waiting in line.

After hour courtesy:

  • Checking in is allowed 24-hours a day. Out of courtesy for other residents already in the building, we ask that from 10 p.m. - 7 a.m. you move only what is necessary to your room in order to reduce noise during sleeping hours.
  • Students are not permitted to check in between 7 – 9 a.m.
