Our Living Learning Communities (LLCs) take the first-year residential experience to new heights, launching your Forty Acres journey with a built-in community of Longhorns who share your passions. Learn more about the thirteen unique communities we offer to prospective residents, each of which feature specialized social and academic programming and dedicated peer mentorship to help ease and enrich your transition to University life. Whether you’re an aspiring entrepreneur, a first-generation student, a creative writer or passionate about sustainability, there’s an LLC designed to help you find your people and thrive.
Your Social Home Base
Students in LLCs live together in the same area of a residence hall, offering an easy environment from day one to socialize and form friendships over shared interests, majors or identities. Along with natural everyday opportunities to connect, each LLC hosts social events at least once a month for their community. Whether you’re an introvert, extrovert or somewhere in between, these regular opportunities – from a casual movie night in to exploring Austin on a bike ride – allow you to connect with your peers, the University and greater Austin at your own pace.
Academic Growth and Networking
Your LLC experience goes beyond planned and spontaneous social connections. Each community offers exclusive programming and pathways for growth aimed at propelling your academic journey and career goals forward. Examples include faculty-led discussions, career workshops, guest lectures and exclusive networking events tailored to your LLC’s focus. Your LLC also provides access to faculty and professionals who can support your academic and career path based on your needs and goals, from helping you build your writing portfolio, learn entrepreneurial skills or network in your area of interest.
Dedicated Support System
Beyond your peers and the dedicated LLC staff member, each LLC comes with unique mentorship and guidance that supplements the support team you’ll already have in your resident assistant and complex coordinator down the hall. Each of our thirteen communities has at least one peer leader, a former LLC member who understands the experience firsthand and can help you navigate your Longhorn journey, ensuring you have all the resources and support you need to succeed.
