Preparing for a smooth transition into college living begins before Mooov-In. Your choices of residence hall and roommate(s) are more than just steps in the room selection process; they help shape your experience here on the Forty Acres. As you get ready to choose your home on the Forty during room selection, learn more about the process to help you with your decision.
Our room selection process begins in early June for our on-campus residence halls. If you have signed your housing contract and submitted the $300 prepayment, you will receive communication to your official University email on Monday, June 1 with your room selection timeslot. When it’s your turn to select a room, take your time and choose a space that feels right for you. Your timeslot remains open through the end of room selection. If you do not select a room by the end of June, you will be manually assigned one based on your preferences and roommate profile matches. You can make changes to your room assignment during room swap in July.
Knowing which residence hall and room type you want to live in is a key step in the room selection process. If you’re still unsure which one is the right fit, our Help Me Choose Quiz is a great tool. This quiz is designed to help you get to the heart of what you truly value in your living space and narrow down your housing options.
If you have a preferred roommate, be sure to form a roommate group with them in the housing portal. When you are part of a roommate group, the member with the earliest room selection timeslot will select and assign a room for the entire group based on preference and availability. Many students select a space without forming a roommate group and when going this route, you will place yourself into a room with another student in it during room selection. While looking at the room, you will be able to see the profile information and compatibility of the student already in the room to help with your selection. If you choose a vacant room, another student will select or be assigned to that space.
Your time on the Forty Acres is just beginning, and where you live will be a meaningful part of that experience. If you have any questions or need to update your housing preferences, our housing team is here to help.
