Double Room

Accessible Description

This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses two residents in a shared space. To the left upon entry, there is built-in pantry shelving, followed by a built-in dresser, and a desk and desk chair with an overhead corkboard. To the right are two lofted twin XL beds opposite one another with small cabinets underneath. A second desk and desk chair separates both beds. Across from the beds are two closets, each with shelving and a clothing rod, and one with a towel rod on the back of the closet door. The room also contains a trash can, recycling bin, MicroFridge and microwave. There are tile floors throughout, a window with blinds attached and overhead lighting.

Can I loft or bunk my bed?

Yes you can. All furniture in Prather is moveable.

Does my room have a trash can and recycling bin?

All residence hall rooms come with a small trash can and recycling bin. You are responsible for placing your garbage in the trash collection area on your floor.

Does the room have air conditioning and heating?

All of our residence halls have AC and heat. Prather residents are able to control the temperature of their own room within a certain range.

Which dining locations are nearby?

Prather Hall is in between both Jester Center and San Jacinto Hall. Jester Center has two dining facilities, a convenience store and an assortment of other food and drink stops. San Jacinto is the home of Cypress Bend Cafe. Please visit our Dining page for more information.

Where is my bathroom and shower?

Your community bathroom is located down the hall from this room. You will be given a security code for your assigned community bathroom when you check in. The bathroom is gender-specific. For accommodations, please email housing@austin.utexas.edu.

Does my room come with a MicroFridge?

All residence hall rooms come with one MicroFridge. Only one refrigerator is allowed per room, please do not bring a second one. For accommodations, please contact our housing team at housing@austin.utexas.edu.

Single Room

Accessible Description

To the right upon entry is a built-in dresser with a mirror and light above it, followed by a small closet with shelving and a clothing rod in the room’s right corner. Directly across from the closet is a lofted twin XL bed with a small cabinet below, and built-in pantry shelving behind the bed. This room’s furnishings include a corkboard, desk, desk chair, trash can, recycling bin, MicroFridge and microwave. There are tile floors, overhead lighting and a window with blinds attached.

Triple Room

Accessible Description

This one bedroom residence hall room houses three residents in a shared space. To the immediate right upon entry, there are three closets; two are built in to the room’s wall, with the third a wardrobe-style cabinet situated in between their doors. Each closet contains shelving and a clothing rod. The room features three twin XL beds, each with a small dresser and cabinet underneath; one is opposite the two closets, while the other two are situated opposite each other on the wall farthest from the entry door. This room’s additional furnishings include three sets of desks, desk chairs and bookshelves, along with a mirror, corkboard, MicroFridge, microwave, trash can and recycling bin. This room features three small windows with blinds attached, hardwood floors and overhead lighting throughout.

Community Bathroom

Accessible Description

This community-style bathroom features two shower stalls and three toilet stalls, each with lockable doors, along with two sinks. Upon entry, the shower stalls line the left side of the room, followed by the toilet stalls. Each shower stall contains a shower and changing area, separated by a shower curtain. The sinks line the right side of the room and have a mirror above them. The bathroom also includes a recycling bin, trash can and hand dryer. There are tile floors throughout, walls with half tile and half drywall, overhead lighting and a frosted glass window.

Can anyone use this restroom? 

Each restroom has a specific code given to the residents at check-in for the restroom on their floor. Guest restrooms can be found near the front desk.

Showers and stall privacy? 

All showers and stalls are single person use and private.
