Double Room

Accessible Description

This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses two residents in a shared space. Back against the wall to the immediate left upon entry is a sink area which houses a single-basin sink, lower cabinets and an overhead mirror with lighting. The right and left sides of the room each feature a lofted twin XL bed with a small dresser and cabinet underneath, an open closet area with shelving and a clothing rod, a desk, desk chair and a corkboard. This room also comes with a trash can, recycling bin, MicroFridge, microwave and small bookshelf. It also features hardwood floors, overhead lighting and a window with blinds attached.

Jester East has 10 floors and houses approximately 1,200 residents. There are study rooms and laundry rooms on each floor. There are also multiple lounges throughout the building, including a TV lounge and a 24-hour quiet study lounge.

Can I loft or bunk my bed?

Yes you can. All furniture in Jester East rooms is moveable.

Does my room have a sink?

The majority of rooms in Jester East have a sink inside the room.

Does my room have a trash can and recycling bin?

All residence hall rooms come with a small trash can and recycling bin. You are responsible for placing your garbage in the trash collection area on your floor.

Does my room come with a MicroFridge?

All residence hall rooms come with one MicroFridge. Only one refrigerator is allowed per room, please do not bring a second one. For accommodations, please contact our housing team at housing@austin.utexas.edu.

What kind of bathroom will I have?

This room has a community-style bathroom. Your community bathroom is located down the hall from your room. You will be given a code at check-in for your gender-specific bathroom. For accommodations, please email housing@austin.utexas.edu.

All of our residence halls have AC and heat. In Jester East the AC and heat are controlled by our facilities staff. To adjust the temperature in your room you can submit a maintenance request form (MRF).

Double Room (Connecting Bath)

Accessible Description

This fully furnished two bedroom residence hall room contains two identical bedrooms housing two residents each and features a connecting bathroom. Each bedroom features identical furniture with their layouts flipped the opposite direction. Adjacent to the entry doors in both are two open closets with shelving and clothing rods. On the near and far sides of the wall opposite the closets are two lofted twin XL beds with a small dresser and cabinet underneath. Each room’s additional furnishings include four corkboards, two desks and desk chairs, a trash can, recycling bin, bookshelf, MicroFridge and microwave. There is overhead lighting, hardwood floors and a window with blinds attached.

The bathroom entrance for both bedrooms is in the far corner of the room located straight ahead from each entry door. The bathroom layout is a narrow hallway with one side featuring a toilet stall equipped with a lockable door and a shower stall with a shower curtain. Opposite the toilet and shower is a sink area housing two single-basin sinks with a mirror and lighting above them. The bathroom contains tile floors and overhead lighting.

Accessible Description

This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses two residents in a shared space with a private bathroom. To the immediate right of entry is a closet with shelving and a clothing rod. Past the closet and lining the remaining space on the room’s right wall are two desks and desk chairs, followed by the bathroom entrance. The room also features two lofted twin XL beds with small dressers and cabinets underneath; one is located to the left of entry, while the other is situated on the opposite wall from the entry door, adjacent to the bathroom entrance. The room’s additional furnishings include a MicroFridge, microwave, bookshelf and two corkboards. The room also features hardwood floors, overhead lighting and a window with blinds attached.

The small bathroom contains a toilet, single-basin sink, shelving and a shower, all tightly adjacent to one another. The bathroom features tile floors, overhead lighting and walls made of tile and drywall.

Community Bathroom

Accessible Description

This community-style bathroom features a toilet area and a shower area separated by a small sink area. To the immediate left of entry are four toilet stalls with lockable doors. Around the corner from entry to the right, past the toilet stalls, is the sink area, which houses two single-basin sinks with an overhead mirror. The shower area is located just past the sink area and is flanked on its sides by five shower stalls in total. Three contain lockable doors, while the other two are separated from the bathroom area by a curtain. Each shower contains a changing area and a shower, separated by a shower curtain. The bathroom features tile floors throughout, overhead lighting and walls made of tile and drywall.

Can anyone use this restroom?

Each resident is given a code for the restroom on their floor. Guest restrooms can be found near the front desk.

How often is the bathroom cleaned?

Building Services staff cleans the bathrooms and restocks toilet paper three times a day. The staff also disinfects all high touch areas of the bathrooms.

Showers and stall privacy

All showers and stalls are single person use and private.
