Double Room
Accessible Description
This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses two residents in a shared space and contains a closet, sink area and bedroom area. The sink area is to the immediate right upon entering and features a single-basin sink, overhead shelving, towel rods, a trash can and a recycling bin. Opposite the sink area is more shelving with a towel rod hanging underneath. Each side of the bedroom area contains a twin XL bed with a desk and bookshelf at its base, a dresser and a corkboard to hang wall art and other decor. The room’s small walk-in closet contains shelving and a clothing rod and is located around the corner from the entryway, between one of the dressers and the room’s MicroFridge and microwave. The room features hardwood floors, one window with blinds attached and overhead lighting.
Can I rearrange the furniture within the room?
Yes. In Carothers, the shared double-sided bookshelf, desks, desk chairs, dressers and beds are moveable.

Can I adjust my bed?
Residents of basement-level rooms in Carothers can choose to have their beds either bunked (one bed above the other) or lofted (adjusting the height of a separate, un-bunked bed). Beds on the first through fourth floors cannot be lofted, but you and your roommate can choose to have them bunked. The original, default position is un-bunked.
Does the room have air conditioning and heating?
All of our residence halls have AC and heat. In Carothers, residents are able to adjust the temperature of their room within a certain range from their individual thermostat.

Carothers is on the west side of the Quad. Carothers residents share a large, beautiful courtyard with residents of Andrews, Blanton and Littlefield. The courtyard is great for socializing, playing Ultimate Frisbee and studying under the trees. The Joynes Reading Room in Carothers Hall includes a browsing library, special event venue and two seminar rooms. This area is staffed and supported by the Plan II Honors Program, but is also accessible to all UT honors residents and residents of the Honors Quad. Special events in this space include faculty talks, literary readings by visiting authors, book discussion groups and watch parties for televised events such as presidential debates. The closest dining facilities are Littlefield Patio Cafe in Littlefield Hall, along with Kin’s Market and Kins Dining in Kinsolving Hall. What kind of bathroom and shower will I have?
Your community bathroom is located down the hall from your room. You will be given a code at check-in for your gender-specific bathroom. For accommodations, please email housing@austin.utexas.edu.
Does my room come with a MicroFridge?
All residence hall rooms come with one MicroFridge. Only one refrigerator is allowed per room; please do not bring a second one. For accommodations, please contact our housing team at housing@austin.utexas.edu.
Is there a sink inside my room?
Rooms on the basement level and fourth floor of Carothers do not have their own sink. The majority of rooms on the first through third floors of Carothers have a sink. If you have questions about a specific room or need accommodations, reach out to us at housing@austin.utexas.edu.
Does my room have a trash can and recycling bin?
All residence hall rooms come with a small trash can and recycling bin. You are responsible for placing your garbage in the trash collection area on your floor.
Premium Single Room
Accessible Description
This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses one resident in a single space that contains a bedroom area and an entryway flanked by two small closets with shelving and clothing rods inside. The bedroom contains one lofted twin XL bed with a small dresser and bookshelf underneath. Opposite the bed is the room’s desk, desk chair, MicroFridge, microwave, trash can, recycling bin and a corkboard to hang wall art and other decor. The room features a window with blinds attached, tile floors and overhead lighting.

This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses three residents in a shared space with a large walk-in closet. The room features three lofted twin XL beds: two line the walls immediately adjacent to the entry door, with the third located across the room in front of the room’s window. Each bed has a small dresser and bookshelf underneath and a corkboard beside it to hang wall art and other decor. The room also features three desks with desk chairs, a MicroFridge, microwave, trash can and recycling bin. The room’s walk-in closet is located in the far right corner of the room upon entering and contains clothing rods, shelving of various heights and a window. Both windows in the room have blinds attached. There are tile floors and overhead lighting throughout.

Community Bathroom
Accessible Description
This community-style bathroom features a sink, mirror, trash can, hand dryer and three toilet stalls with lockable doors, one of which is accessible. The toilet stalls line the right side of the bathroom upon entering. The sink area with the mirror and hand dryer is located past the stalls on the same side. The bathroom features a window with frosted glass, tile floors and walls that are a combination of tile and drywall. There is overhead lighting throughout the bathroom.
