Double Room (Community Bath)

Accessible Description

This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses two residents in a shared space that contains a closet, sink area and bedroom area. The sink area is to the immediate right upon entering and features a single-basin sink, towel rods and a mirror with lighting above it. The closet is to the left upon entering and has shelving, a clothing rod and a full-length mirror inside. Each side of the room contains a pull-out twin XL bed with a corkboard above it, dresser with an overhead mirror, desk, desk chair and wall-mounted shelves above the desks. Between the desks and opposite the entry door are the room’s MicroFridge, microwave, trash can, recycling bin and a large window with blinds. The room features tile floors, overhead lighting throughout and wall-mounted lighting above both dressers and the sink area.

Furniture facts

Most Kinsolving rooms feature built-in furniture, including pull-out beds. All rooms come with two desks, drawers and a closet.

Who can live here?

Kinsolving is an all-female residence hall, open to all classifications of female residents.

Does my room have a trash can and recycling bin?

All residence hall rooms come with a small trash can and recycling bin. You are responsible for placing your garbage in the trash collection area on your floor.

Does my room come with a MicroFridge? 

All residence hall rooms come with one MicroFridge. Only one refrigerator is allowed per room; please do not bring a second one. For accommodations, please contact our housing team at housing@austin.utexas.edu.

Does the room have air conditioning and heating?

All of our residence halls have AC and heat. In Kinsolving, the AC and heat are controlled by our facilities staff. To adjust the temperature in your room, you can submit a maintenance request form (MRF).

Does my room have a sink?

All community-bath style Kinsolving rooms have their own sink.

What kind of bathroom and shower will I have?

This room has a community-style bathroom. Your community bathroom is located down the hall from your room. You will be given a code at check-in for your gender-specific bathroom. For accommodations, please email housing@austin.utexas.edu.

About Kinsolving

The Kinsolving 2.5 floor is home to study/programming rooms. There is also a Kinsolving sundeck, a Kinsolving exercise room, a shared kitchen and a rec space featuring ping-pong tables.

Laundry

Each floor has two laundry/trash rooms. Laundry machines are free; just bring your own laundry supplies.

Double Room (Connecting Bath)

Accessible Description

This room tour features two one bedroom residence hall rooms connected by a shared bathroom. Each room houses two residents in a shared space. Both bedrooms have identical furniture and features but with their layouts flipped the opposite way. Each contain a small entryway with a dresser, a spacious walk-in closet with built-in shelving and clothing rods of varying heights, and door access to the shared bathroom. Each room features two sets of furniture located opposite each other on the left and right sides of the room. This furniture includes a pull-out twin XL bed with a corkboard above it, dresser with an overhead mirror, desk, desk chair and wall-mounted shelves above the desks. Opposite each room’s entry door is a large window with blinds, in front of which is the room’s MicroFridge, microwave, trash can and recycling bin. The bedrooms feature tile flooring and overhead lighting throughout.

The shared bathroom features two sinks with overhead mirrors, a toilet stall and a shower stall. The sinks are immediately beside the entry doors upon entering. On the sink side of the room is the toilet and shower stalls. The toilet stall features a lockable stall door and overhead shelving and two toilet paper rods inside. The shower stall is tall and comes with a shower rod for a curtain. Across from the toilet and shower stalls on the opposite side of the bathroom is a trash can and two towel rods. There is overhead lighting, along with tile flooring and walls throughout the bathroom.

Triple Room (Private Bath)

Accessible Description

This fully furnished one bedroom residence hall room houses three residents in a shared space that comes with an accessible bathroom, a small enclosed closet and a larger open closet. The room opens to its bedroom area, which features three twin XL beds. To the right and left upon entering are two of the beds – the right one is lofted with two small dressers underneath, while the left one is unlofted and situated against the opposite wall. The unlofted third bed is located straight across from the entry door, against the wall. The bedroom area’s furnishings include three corkboards, a recycling bin, trash can, MicroFridge, microwave and two of the bedroom’s three desks and desk chairs. The left corner of the room upon entering connects to an open passageway leading to the room’s other areas and third desk. Lining the passageway’s left wall is built-in cabinetry and doors to the small closet and bathroom. On its right is a large window with blinds attached. At the passageway’s end is the room’s third desk and desk chair and a short entryway into the larger closet, which features shelving and two clothing rods. The accessible bathroom contains a single-basin sink, cabinetry, a mirror, toilet with grab bars, accessible shower with a detachable shower head, foldable bench, grab bars for the shower and a shower curtain. There are hardwood floors in the room’s bedroom and closet area and tile flooring and walls in its bathroom. The room features overhead lighting.

Community Bathroom

Accessible Description

This community-style bathroom features five toilet stalls, five shower stalls and two sinks. One of the toilet stalls and two of the shower stalls are wheelchair-accessible. The toilet stalls line the wall to the immediate right upon entering, with the accessible stall closest to the entry door. Opposite the third and fourth stalls from the door is an entryway that leads to the shower stalls and sinks. The shower stalls line this entryway’s left side, with the two accessible stalls at its end. Each regular shower stall contains a changing area and shower separated by a curtain. The accessible showers are separated by a curtain and contain grab bars; one contains a foldable bench and detachable showerhead. The bathroom features tile flooring and walls and overhead lighting as well as lighting above each sink.

All showers and stalls are single-person use and private.

Can anyone use this restroom?

Each restroom has a specific code given to residents at check-in for the restroom on their floor. Community bathrooms are for Kinsolving residents only. Guests can be escorted to the all-gender restrooms on the 2.5 floor, or gender specific restrooms in the Kinsolving lobby.
